Interview: Miss World Colombia 2013, Daniela Ocoró

Who’s Daniela Ocoró?

- Daniela Ocoró is from Cali, an arquitecture student, responsible, disciplined, and willing to live with passion and dedication all the experiences that come through in life. My major goal is to finish my studies, and to work in the field I’ve chosen.

When women from the Valle del Cauca state win the Señorita Colombia pageant, and later go to Miss Universe, they have always classified. Do you think this can happen to you, but in a different pageant like Miss World is?

- Sure, the idea is to Colombia sound again in the Miss World. Besides, I believe both pageants have totally different focuses and goals, so anything can happen.

In the Miss World, it is looked for a complete woman. How would you describe a woman worthy of the title? And what does your preparation consist of?

- A Miss World should be an ambassador, a woman with an altruistic spirit; in short words, she must be a message of hope and solidarity. The preparation consists basically on catwalk classes, periodistic training, make-up & hair-styling classes, routine of exercises, general culture and more.

We know you are an arquitecture student. How do you balance your studies with you preparation for the pageant?

- I decided to postpone my studies during this year as Miss World Colombia. I’m focused and dedicated 100% to the pageant, I want to dedicate this year to my country and do the best representation possible in the Miss World.

Being a beauty queen has been a dream of yours for a long time, or it has been an opportunity presented to you now?

- My dream was never to be a beauty queen, was an opportunity that literally came to my door, so I’m living this experience to the fullest.

What do you aspire to accomplish through the Miss World?

- My personal aspiration is to generate positive changes in my country. The capacity to interact with foundations, gives you different perspectives of the true meaning that life must have.

In the pageant there will be women from many different countries, maybe some of them do not know your country. How would you describe it to them? 

- Colombia is a country of contrasts, we have a wide variety of ethnics and so valuable, that is hard to find it in any other place. Also, we have a great range of climates, landscapes, and gastronomy but the most important thing is our warmth and joy that all Colombians offer to the world.

Had you had any contact with other women that are going to the Miss World this year?

- I’ve seen photos from some candidates, but with the one I’ve had most contact (via Twitter) is Miss Panama. I’m anxious to meet all my mates!

Can you advance us what do you have prepared to represent Colombia in the pageant?

- We are working closely with a foundation called Tejiendo Mundo and at the same time we are leading projects with social character.
